This is Our Story...
We met under very strange circumstances. I had just been through a horrible break-up, and Chris had just decided to leave his family and friends behind and find a new life. Chris jumped on a bus that brought him from Washington state all the way across the country to his chosen destination of Portland, Maine. I was staying in a shelter for women in Portland trying to start my life over and find my way through the pain that my former boyfriend, and father of my second son, had left me with. You see, my son Atreyu was taken by his father, so I spent most of my time trying to find out where he was. I was still keeping faith that I would find him and a new life. When Chris and I first met each other Chris was very new in town and was resting in a day shelter and trying to keep out of the cold Maine winter weather. It just so happened, that I was volunteer there, and also a resident. That day I was helping someone get some warm clothes from the clothing closet, and I literally stumbled upon him as he was laying across some chairs. I felt so bad that I had run right into this man that was obviously very tired. I apologized more than once and felt so horrible for doing such a thing! When he looked up at me I knew that I wanted to know who he was. I'm sure he just wanted to go back to sleep! "Who is that?" is what I kept asking the people that were around. Most of the people there were elderly folks that stayed in either the women's shelter with me, or the men's shelter. Most of them told me that they had just met him briefly, or didn't know him at all. I carried on with my duties and got ready to have dinner at the soup kitchen downstairs from the women's shelter. As I was walking towards my usual spot in the dining hall I noticed someone was sitting in the spot that I usually sit in. I'm thinking to myself "that's not a problem, I'm only a couple seats away." Then I realized, as he looked up at me, that it was him, and WOW is he stunningly handsome! Chris was being very shy, but I already knew everyone there so I figured I should strike up a conversation. So to make a long story short, one conversation led to another, and shortly we started taking long walks together through Portland. We especially loved the Old Port, the West End, and one cemetery in particular (especially when it was covered with a blanket of snow, the moon was shining just right, and we were armed with a bottle of red wine!) Now we have a beautiful baby girl named Willow Crystal Isabelle, and we're getting married! It's been a fairy tale dream come true........
As I am creating this page right now, I am watching two white butterflies fly through my garden and off into their somewhere. How amazing is that........
